Welcome to my first blog as Life in Shadows.
I have been a little quiet on the crafting for sale side of the business recently as I have been finishing off some decorations for a friend’s wedding and i thought you may all like to see what I've done.
So to set the scene, my friend is getting married on the 1st Nov 2025 to a wonderful man she met 3ish years ago. they are such a lovely couple and I'm so happy they trusted to make things for them. It started off at the end of 2024 with "can you make us some invitations?", obviously the response was "of course" with a side thought of "how hard can it be?"
Well to be honest it would have helped if the bride to be had known what colours and style she wanted, this sadly wasn’t the case! Of I goes with some ideas in my head to mock up some invitations in a range of designs and colours. The final decision was to be a tri folded invitation with heart scalloped edges and a small pocket for the extra information pieces in White and wine red. Considering I had never made an offset scalloped edged card before I was quite chuffed with the final product. She had told me it was only going to be a small and intimate wedding, then she dropped the bombshell!!! she wanted 20 daytime and 90 evening invitations to be made. Goodness me I thought but off I went, and I had them all ready and waiting to be sent by mid-March.
Next on the list was a seating plan and the sign saying who was getting married, the bride to be gave me a large silver framed mirror and a beautiful silver photo frame so that i could create something, as well as name ribbons to tie around the champagne glass stems.
Off I went again with my list of names and table design to see what I could come up with. She had mentioned that the table centres were to be lilies, so I planned to incorporate some into the designs somewhere and as she had chosen gold on white for the ribbons that had to be included to. Below are the final pieces.... who would have thought it was so hard to photograph a mirror but as you can see the image is created using vinyl and a lot of patience has turned out just right.
And last but not least were the arrows, you saw at the top of the blog, to direct all their friends and family to the location. These are hand painted and sprayed with waterproof lacquer just in case it rains and that was me all done with a couple of weeks to spare.
Now all there is to do is recover from the last weekends hen shenanigans, choose an outfit for the evening party and prepare all my Halloween decorations for the local kids and of course me...
Catch you soon A x
